What artwork and construction information should a packaging RFQ preserve?
Give each packaging supplier the same construction and artwork revision. State the finished internal dimensions, printing sides, color requirement and finishing, and ask which proof or sample is included before production approval. Keep setup, tooling and production quantities separate. A stock-box photograph or logo claim cannot establish that the requested printed package is approved, dimensionally suitable or available at your quantity.

Use this before sending packaging artwork or approving a proof. Keep the dieline, artwork revision, dimensions, print process and finish tied to one proof, with a named person responsible for approval.
Use this to prepare requirements and evidence questions. It does not contact suppliers, obtain a formal quotation, certify a factory or approve a substitute.
Minimum buyer brief
Dieline/artwork file reference only, no confidential uploads here; version; size basis; print/finish; sample approval owner.
| Field | Buyer input | Evidence check | Reject or unknown |
|---|---|---|---|
| dieline revision | Supply the actual file reference and revision date. | Ask the supplier to identify the version it priced. | Two different dielines cannot be the same approved artwork. |
| internal dimensions and tolerance | State finished internal L/W/H, units and buyer tolerances. | Require an explicit internal/external size basis. | Unstated size basis stays UNKNOWN. |
| construction/material | State construction and required board/material properties. | A style code describes construction, not every performance property. | Do not infer strength or food-contact suitability from a code. |
| print side and color requirement | Specify printed sides and buyer-approved color requirement. | Ask what process/proof is proposed for that artwork. | Plain stock is a mismatch when printing is mandatory. |
| finish | State the required coating/lamination or other finish, if any. | Keep optional upgrades distinct from the base requirement. | A glossy photo does not establish the specified finish. |
| proof approval state | Record whether a proof/sample is proposed, supplied or buyer approved. | Ask which revision the approval covers. | A mockup is not automatically an approved production proof. |
Exclude or resolve
Reject a plain stock carton for mandatory printing or a different dieline version as the same artwork; do not infer food-contact or load approval.
Questions to copy into a supplier enquiry
Which dieline revision is quoted? What proof is included? Are setup/tooling and production prices separate and at the same quantity?
Keep quantity and price on the same basis
Keep currency, original unit, requested quantity, SKU, quantity tier and observation date together. A listing is dated commercial evidence; a supplier-confirmed quotation is a separate response for your order. Unknown pack conversion, MOQ waiver, inventory, freight or tax stays unknown.
Read evidence without upgrading it
BUYER_STATED is explicit buyer input. SOURCE_OBSERVED records a dated source; DERIVED labels an interpretation. OBSERVED does not mean SUPPLIER_CONFIRMED. Missing facts stay UNKNOWN; TO_CONFIRM names the next question.
References and their limits

Review a brief before any purchase
Free preparation does not purchase a check or contact suppliers. Image Stripe USD 2.99 and text/model x402 2.99 USDC are separate paid routes. Image x402 and text/model Stripe are OFF in the dated observation; live admission is authoritative. The proposed $19.90 RFQ service is not open for purchase.
